Summer Holiday Workshops for young people

 

What we are offering :

 

A chance to work with professional actors and directors from within the industry.

 

Drama skills taught will include- Creating a character, costume design, voice projection, improvisation, script reading, acting with music, basic stage choreography, set design, basic stage make-up and stage fighting.

An opportunity to perform throughout the summer school.

 

 

Theme

 

Superhero Themed-  The theme will be based around superheroes and their powers to change the world

 

Based on well known characters or brand new heroes, created using the group's imagination and input. 

 

Our Teachers

 

Resident Drama Tutors who has over 30 years of experience working within the industry.

£50 per additional additional sibling of full paying member

7- 15 years. All participants are taught in age specific groups

 

What to bring

Please bring along a packed lunch. There are facilities onsite to purchase food and drinks throughout the day, however participants will not be allowed off site to purchase lunch and will be supervised by tutors at all times.

 

Award Ceremony

An informal award presentation involving certificates and hero awards will be held at 2.30pm on the last day of the Summer school

 

Terms & Conditions 

 

1.Payment- To secure a place full payment must be received.

 

2.Cancellation- A refund will only be given if a place is cancelled in writing 7 days prior to the workshop commencing : Studio Two Unit 217 The Custard Factory, Gibb Street, Digbeth, Birmingham, B9 4AA

 

3.Special Circumstances- In the event of illness a refund will be considered by our head office. This request would need to be submitted in writing to : Studio Two Unit 217 The Custard Factory, Gibb Street, Digbeth, Birmingham, B9 4BF

 

4.Behaviour- We expect a certain level of behaviour at our Summer School and foster an environment of mutual respect. If an individual is disruptive, verbally abusive to a teacher or another child on a repeated basis and does not display improved behaviour they will be asked to leave. Under these circumstances refunds will not be given.

 

5.Permission- By taking part in the workshops permission is granted to use photographs taken during the workshops of any participating child which maybe used on this website & local press

 

6.Viability- Class Act has a limited maximum number of young people that it can accept onto any workshop, likewise there is also a minimum amount of young people that makes any workshop viable. It is at a tutors discretion whether or not a workshop runs. In the event of a workshop not being able to run due to circumstances beyond our control a full refund will be made within 14 working days. Bookings must be made by the 26th of July 2018.

 

7. No shows/Non Attendance- Unless we have been formally contacted as per our cancellation and special circumstances terms outlined above 100% of the summer school value will be charged due to the nature of staff preparation, materials, costuming and other resources dedicated to the reserved place. This necessary step is also designed to make sure that places for other children are not unduly wasted and staff ratios and staff salaries can be honoured, thus enabling the future of our summer schools and the booking of highly qualified staff.

8. Booking forms & Email Confirmations- Class Act Drama Centre will not be held responsible for young people that have not had a completed booking form submitted on their behalf and who may attempt to start the Summer School without the relevant completed paperwork. Confirmations from Class Act Drama Centre that booking forms have been received and a place secured are released to all Summer School candidates. If for any reason you do not receive your email confirmation please call us on 0121-244-3214 and will we attempt to confirm your booking over the telephone.

9. Drop off & Pick up- Class Act Drama Centre will not be held responsible for young people that have not been delivered by a recognised adult to one of our tutors. In the interests of safety and in the case of an emergency we ask that guardians and parents check that tutors are on site at the start of each day. Each young person must sign in each morning.  If a young person is running late please call the following number which tutors will use during the summer school 07951-370-585. Tutors will not allow young people to leave the site for lunch or to buy snacks as a packed lunch is required daily. Due to staffing ratios we cannot accompany young people off site during break and or lunchtimes. Pick up- Tutors will wait with young people until they are picked up by a recognised adult. If a young person is walking home, walking to meet a parent offsite, getting the bus or other public transport a letter must be provided granting permission and cannot be accepted in retrospect.   Whilst a tutor will wait with young people in the event of a late collection, we would ask guardians and parents to be mindful that tutors often have teaching commitments after the summer school which they must attend as part of their employment. 10. Data Protection- The data collected during Summer School enrolment is processed as per our GDPR  policy.
