Press Release- Montague & Capulets- Birmingham & Midlands Youth Production 


A search for young actors will be taking part in Birmingham this Autumn in a bid to find talented young people to star in a staged adaptation of Montague & Capulets. This successful show is an adaptation of Shakespeare's famous Romeo & Juliet and is designed for a young cast to enjoy. The show will be directed by professional actors & directors from within the industry who are beginning their search for main roles and chorus parts with all roles played by young people. The production will be staged next year with professional training offered to all suitable candidates with rehearsals taking place in Birmingham, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield, with actors invited to attend those venues within the easiest travelling distance for them. Initial informal trials  & Auditions will take place on Wednesday the 27th of September 2017 from 7.30pm-8.30pm. Studio One, The Custard Factory, Gibb Street, Digbeth, B9 4BF


No experience or preparation is necessary as the session will be workshop based although some script reading will be undertaken. Directors are looking for youngsters aged between 7 and 17 years. Trials consist of informal fun group drama workshops and are simply an opportunity for directors to meet enthusiastic and committed young people. What to expect at the informal trial :

Directors will be looking for youngsters aged between 7 and 17 years. Trials consist of informal fun group drama workshops and are simply an opportunity for directors to meet enthusiastic and committed young people. Complete beginners and more advanced performers are welcome. No preparation is necessary. 

 

Audition Piece- Not required

Rehearsal Location- Mulitiple locations in Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield and Solihull will be offered as options to successful candidates so that they can choose the location that is most convenient.

 

What happens after the trial & expectations :

 

If you are successful and offered a part within the cast, we will send you further information about the performance, Class Act Drama Centre, the centre’s membership details and membership forms to complete and consider should you wish to accept your place.  If you have not been successful on this occasion we may offer you a part in an alternative group, or retain your details for further castings that we are working on.  It is with regret that due to availability we cannot offer every child a place within a cast. However, we will inform every candidate of our decision.

 

Class Act Drama Centre workshop classes & theatre projects are not reliant on external funding.  Due to continual cuts in arts funding and to ensure continuity and the success of projects subscriptions are charged. Each member of the drama class will have a membership fee equating to £ 8.50 to £9.75 ( depending on venue hire charges ) per week for their training and participation in the project. If successful all members are guaranteed a speaking role. Successful siblings will be offered a discounted rate. There are 5 scholarship places that provide free training for successful members who are not in a financial position to contribute to fees. Fees include weekly training in a class, tuition, rehearsal, room hire & access to script materials. Full details will be supplied to all successful candidates under no obligation. Shows & casting are at directors discretion
